My very first piece of work whilst studying for my degree projects but one of the most fulfilling to date.

The sculpture is far from perfect especially the lower back. At this point, I had never casted before, never used tarmac or bitumen or concrete.

When I look at it I love the imperfection of the surface, the small holes of concrete showing through the shiny bitumen. When viewed from different angles, I love the shape of the back; the strength and solidity of the shoulders, the curvature of the spine. To me this is a very male form and the material used enhances its masculinity.
